Peter Hain at the LSE

November 5th, 2006 · No Comments

1601petb1.jpgPeter Hain, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland and Wales, as well as being one of the leading contenders for the role of Deupty Leader of the Labour Party, will be visiting the LSE at 6.00pm 8th November, Room E304 East Building LSE. He will be speaking to the LSESU Labour Society about the recent developments in Northern Ireland, as well as his own personal politics which started as leader of the Young Liberals in the 1970s fighting against Apartheid, being fitted up for a bank robbery in South West London by South African intelligence, transferring to the Labour Party and evolving to the present day member of a Blair cabinet. Surely his visit to the LSESU Labour Society will rank up there in some of his most adventurous achievements.

Neal LawsonNeal Lawson will be addressing the LSESU Labour Society and taking your questions this Thursday 2nd November, 6.30pm in H102 Connaught House LSE on the subject of where this government and the Labour party will go next. Followed by drinks afterwards. This promises to be an interesting and lively discussion about where we go next as a government and as a party.

Lawson is the chair of pressure group/think tank Compass, a left of centre pressure group who claim to be the “direction for the democratic left”. They have consistently called for a change in leadership of the party and a new agenda to be set for a fourth term in government. Take a look at their website here.
